The past few months have been a rollercoaster for startups across the world.
According to Crunchbase, global venture funding in 2022 totaled $445 billion, 35% lower than the previous year.
And, the prospects for 2023 aren’t encouraging.
In the U.S., a Bloomberg survey found that “economists say there is a 7-in-10 likelihood that the US economy will sink into a recession”.
As a result, founders are having to navigate uncertainty, adjust growth prospects and fundraising expectations.
In Latin America, late-stage startups saw a 79% decline in capital deployed across Series C+ rounds compared to 2021, per LAVCA’s data.
Despite taking a hit, venture capital remained the 2nd largest asset class “capturing 28% of total dollars and 82% of all private capital transactions in 2022”.
How are Brazilian founders in Silicon Valley adapting and moving forward?
